Neighorhoods for Kids in Phoenix

I love, love, love to find new neighborhoods that are just teeming with kids playing outside and parents hanging out chatting. It reminds me of my childhood and it's what I dream for my kids. So far, so good. We're in Country Lane, in Gilbert.

I have found a couple of neighborhoods that fit the above description but I don't know anyone in them to interview for an in depth article. I suppose I could just knock on someone's door but that feels a bit forward. I'll have to work up my courage for that one. So, here are a few Phoenix neighborhoods that seem great for kids but I don't really know anyone there. If you are reading this and do know someone there, shoot me a line. I'd love to write a full article for the neighborhood.

In no particular order:
**Val Vista Lakes, particularly The Enclave.
Val Vista Lakes is a huge and very nice community on the edge of Gilbert/Mesa. It's at Val Vista and Baseline, just a 1/2 mile off the 60. Of course there are lakes but there is also a huge clubhouse with multiple pools, one of which is a sandy beach entrance. LOVE IT!
The Enclave is a mini-subdivision with about 50-70 homes within its gates. In my early days, I helped a friend find a tenant for his rental home in there and every single time I drove down the street there were a ton of kids everywhere. The highly rated elementary school is directly across the street and the neighbors seemed extremely friendly. In fact, the new tenant was a daughter of one of the neighbors. Seemed like a lovely neighborhood for children.

*Candlelight Estates in North Mesa. Right around Brown and Gilbert, is a lovely, lovely community. Most of the homes were built in the early 80s up to early 90s. They range from 3 bedrooms up to mini-mansions. No HOA, the yards are gorgeous, and the streets clean. What surprised me was the amount of young children in an "older" area. There is a huge park right in the middle, next to another highly rated public elementary school. It's location so close to the 202 and short distance to downtown is probably what's keeping this community on the up and up. That and the home owners obviously love their community. We considered buying a home there and heard through the grapevine that now the children who grew up there are raising their own families in the same neighborhood. That says a lot.

Know of any other great Phoenix neighborhoods for kids? Let me know!
